Perth Aluminium Machining

What is Aluminium?

Aluminium is a highly machinable, silvery-white metal that we recommended for its strength to weight ratio.

The non-magnetic metal is strong, light, fast to machine, and useful for various purposes.

Common aluminium grades include 6061, 7075, 2024, MIC 6, 6082, and more.

Aluminium can be sourced in rod, tube, sheet, and wire form, and is machinable to customer specifications.

Aluminium Properties

Aluminium Advantages and Disadvantages

Aluminium is great for machining due to its high machinability and excellent strength to weight ratio.

Aluminium's main advantageous properties are:

  • Great machinability

  • High strength and durability

  • Low weight

  • Ability to produce tight tolerances

  • Fast machining helps to lower costs

  • High corrosion resistance

  • High conductivity

  • Good recyclability and aesthetics.

One disadvantage of aluminium is that it can become either soft and/or can expand if forces and heat respectively are too high.

Aluminium Examples and Applications

Aluminium’s advantageous properties make it perfect for a variety of applications.

Common aluminium applications include:

  • Car and vehicles parts, structural parts, and electronics

  • Steps, platforms, covers, valves, and pipes

  • Aerospace, oil and gas, and construction parts

  • Bicycles, golf clubs and sports products

  • Bushes and bearings

  • Indicator rods, tanks, sliding and trim

  • Heat exchangers, panels, and more
